Kestrel & Co. started in 2019 with two people and one client who needed a typeface before they needed a logo. That order of operations stuck.
We work on identity, design systems, and the artefacts that carry them — packaging, print, signage, and software. Most engagements run six to fourteen weeks. Most end with a handover pack the client can actually use without us, which is the point.
How we work
Every project starts with an audit of what already exists, in the places it actually exists — on a truck, on a shelf, at 6pt on a packing label. We draw after that list is short, not before.
We prefer fewer decisions made properly to a large system nobody maintains. A brand with two rules that survive contact with a volunteer is worth more than forty pages of guidelines that do not.
Who we work with
Co-operatives, publishers, municipalities, and small manufacturers. Organisations where the person approving the work is also the person who will live with it.
